Minesweeper
Dig up every safe cell without touching a mine. Each number tells you how many mines touch that cell, and every board here can be cleared by logic alone.
How to play Minesweeper
How to play
Click or tap a cell to dig. A number shows how many of its eight neighbours hide a mine. Mark mines with a flag: right-click, long-press, or switch to Flag mode. Open every safe cell to win.
Start on the sprout
Your first dig is always safe and opens up an area. The sprout marks the start of the shared daily board, but you can begin anywhere.
Clear around a number
When a number already touches as many flags as its value, click or tap it to open all its other neighbours at once. Make sure your flags are right first.
Phones and Expert
On narrow screens the Expert field turns to 16 columns by 30 rows so the cells stay tappable. Use Zoom for bigger cells and scroll the field with your finger.
Questions
Do I ever have to guess in this Minesweeper?
No. Every board is checked by a solver before you see it: starting from your first dig, it must be possible to clear the whole field using the numbers and the mine count alone.
How do I place a flag on a phone?
Long-press a cell, or switch the Dig and Flag toggle above the field to Flag and tap. Tap a satisfied number to open the cells around it.
What are the board sizes?
Beginner is 9 by 9 with 10 mines, Intermediate is 16 by 16 with 40 mines, and Expert is 30 by 16 with 99 mines. The daily board is Intermediate.
What does the hint do?
It points at one cell you can work out right now and explains why in a sentence, for example that a number already touches all its flags. It also tells you if one of your flags is wrong.
Is my first click always safe?
Yes. Your first dig never hits a mine and always opens an empty area with numbers around it.
