Stars
Place stars so that every row, every column and every outlined garden bed has the same number of them. Stars never touch, not even diagonally.
How to play Stars
How to play
Each row, each column and each outlined bed needs exactly one star (or two, on the 10×10 board). Two stars may never touch, not even at a corner.
Controls
Tap a spot once to mark it empty, twice to place a star, and a third time to clear it. Drag across spots to mark many as empty. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys and Space, or press S for a star and X for empty.
Tips
Mark the spots around each star as empty straight away. Look for small beds: if all of a bed's open spots lie in one row, that row's star is in the bed, so the rest of the row is empty. The same works for groups of rows and beds.
Puzzles and daily
Every puzzle has exactly one solution, checked by a solver, and can be solved by logic alone. The daily 8×8 puzzle is the same for everyone and changes at midnight UTC.
Questions
What are the rules of a star placement puzzle?
Place stars so that every row, column and outlined region contains the required number of stars, here one or two. Stars may not be next to each other horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Is this the same as star battle?
Yes, Stars follows the same rules as the puzzle often called star battle: a fixed number of stars in each row, column and region, with no two stars touching.
Do I ever need to guess?
No. Every puzzle has exactly one solution and was checked with a step-by-step solver that only uses logical deductions. The hint button shows the next deduction and explains it.
How do two-star puzzles differ?
On the 10×10 board every row, column and bed holds two stars. Counting gets more interesting: two stars in a row need at least one empty spot between them.
