How to play Loop

How to play

Drag from dot to dot to lay the path, or tap a side to switch it between line, cross and empty. Crosses are your notes for sides the path will never use. The path must be a single loop that never crosses or branches.

Reading the numbers

A number counts how many of the four sides around it the path uses. Empty squares can have any number of sides. A number turns pale once it is satisfied and pink if it has too many.

Tips

Start with 0s and 3s, and corners. A dot always has either no lines or exactly two. Never close a small loop while other pieces of path are still loose.

Keyboard

Arrow keys move between dots. Shift plus an arrow draws or removes a line in that direction. Press X and then an arrow to mark a cross.

Questions

Does every Loop puzzle have exactly one solution?

Yes. Every puzzle is checked twice before it is published: an exhaustive search confirms there is exactly one loop, and a step-by-step solver confirms you can reach it by reasoning alone, without guessing.

What do the levels mean?

Easy puzzles need only the basic rules about numbers and dots. Medium puzzles need corner reasoning, such as how a 3 or a 1 behaves at a corner. Hard puzzles also need short what-if chains where one choice quickly leads to a contradiction.

What does the hint do?

It finds the next step a careful solver would take from your current position, draws it, highlights it and explains why it must be true. If one of your lines is wrong, it removes that one first.

Is this the same as Slitherlink?

Loop uses the same classic rules as the puzzle often sold under other names: a single closed loop along the grid lines with numbered clues. Our puzzles are original and free to play.
