Matching pairs
Turn over two cards. If they match, they stay face up; if not, they turn back. Find every pair in as few turns as you can.
How to play Matching pairs
How to play
Tap or click a card to turn it over, then turn over a second one. A matching pair stays face up. Two different cards are shown for a moment and then turn back, so remember where they were. You can also move between cards with the arrow keys and turn one with Enter or Space.
Score
There is no time pressure. Your score is 1000 × pairs ÷ turns, so finding every pair without a single miss scores 1000. The completion sheet tells you how many turns a player with perfect memory needs on average, because some misses can't be avoided.
Two players
Pass the device between Pink and Blue. Find a pair and you play again; a miss passes the turn. Whoever finds the most pairs wins.
Tips
Work through the grid in order rather than at random, and say the pictures to yourself. When you turn over a card whose partner you have seen, go straight for it.
Questions
What is this game called?
It goes by many names: concentration, pairs, pexeso, or simply the memory card game. The rules are the same: turn two cards, keep matching pairs, find them all.
How is the score worked out?
Score = 1000 × pairs ÷ turns, rounded. A turn is turning over two cards. Time doesn't count, so take as long as you need.
What does the hint do?
If you have already seen both cards of a pair, it shows you one of them again. If you have just turned a card whose partner you saw earlier, it points to that partner. Otherwise it honestly says no pair is known yet and points to a card nobody has seen.
Is the daily deal the same for everyone?
Yes. The daily 24-card layout is the same for every player that day, so you can compare scores.
Can two people play?
Yes. Choose Two players and take turns on one device. A pair lets you play again; the most pairs wins.
