Word Wheel
Past dailiesMake as many words as you can from the nine letters. Every word needs the pink centre letter, and one word uses all nine.
How to play Word Wheel
How to play
Tap letters on the wheel or type them, then press Enter. Words need four or more letters and must include the centre letter. Each tile can be used once per word, so a letter only repeats if it is on the wheel twice.
Ranks and points
Your rank grows with the share of the word list you find: Seedling, Sprout, Budding, Blooming, Gardener and Master gardener. Four-letter words score 1 point, longer words 1 point per letter after the third, and the nine-letter word earns 5 extra.
Bonus words
Rarer words that are real but not on the main list still count as bonus words worth 1 point. They don't move your rank, so nobody needs an obscure dictionary to reach the top.
Finishing
Press Finish whenever you like to end the wheel and see the words you missed. Finding every word on the list finishes it for you. The daily wheel is the same for everyone.
Questions
Is there always a nine-letter word?
Yes. Every wheel is built from a common nine-letter word, so at least one word uses all the letters. Sometimes there are two, when the letters spell more than one word.
Which words count?
The main list holds familiar English words of four letters or more, with offensive words left out. Plurals and other forms count. Other real words from our larger list count as bonus words.
How does the hint work?
It tells you the first two letters and the length of a word you haven't found yet, starting with the most everyday words, and puts those two letters in the entry for you.
Can I play an older wheel or a bigger one?
Choose Small, Classic or Big wheel to play as many extra wheels as you like. Small wheels have up to about 28 words, big ones up to about 90. The daily wheel is a Classic wheel.
Where do the words come from?
Word lists: SCOWL and ENABLE. The nine-letter words come from the common part of SCOWL, and words are checked against a list of offensive words.
